Bathing your dog
Before you bath your dog you need to give him a good brushing to remove all mats and snarls. When you are ready place your dog in a tub and wet the hair entirely before you apply shampoo. After the hair is thoroughly wet distribute the shampoo by running your fingers through the coat. Most people prefer to start on the head and work their way back. Be very careful to keep any water and shampoo out of your dogs eyes and nose. After you are done shampooing, rinse, rinse and rinse. Shampoo left in the coat can do more damage than anything else.
Drying: Wrap your puppy in a towel and hold him wrapped for a couple minutes to cut down on drying time. Use a blow dryer and work in sections, brushing as you go. Don't forget the legs, belly area and behind the ears.
Bathing your chin is not difficult and should be done monthly. I use human shampoos on my dogs, if you notice dry skin and itching you should change products, but a good moisturizing shampoo works great. You may also need to switch shampoos to prevent residue build up. Remember to keep water and shampoo out of the nose and to thoroughly rinse after shampooing and you should have no problems. And yes practice makes perfect!
